A Critical Analysis of a Tourist Trip Design Problem with Time-Dependent Recommendation Factors and Waiting Times

The tourist trip design problem (TTDP) is a well-known extension of the orienteering problem, where objective to obtain an itinerary points interest for that maximizes his/her level interest. In several situations, point depends on when visited, and may delay arrival in order get higher this paper, we present discuss two variants TTDP with time-dependent recommendation factors (TTDP-TDRF), which or not take into account waiting times have better value. Using mixed-integer linear programming solver, provide solutions 27 real-world instances. Although reasonable at first sight, observed including justified: both cases (allowing times) quality almost same, use led model solving times. This fact highlights need properly evaluate benefits making more complex than actually needed.
